Delhi Traffic: The intersection on Captain Gaur Marg, coming from East of Kailash in South Delhi, was not only a headache for the traffic police but also a problem for the colonies on Raja Dhir Sen Marg. During peak hours, the queue of vehicles often extended back along Captain Gaur Marg, reaching Okhla Mandi and then the other side, reaching the Ring Road. At the suggestion of the local RWA, the traffic police have barricaded this intersection and closed it.

U-turns have been provided 100 metre ahead and behind for traffic movement. This has largely controlled the traffic jams on Captain Gaur Road and Raja Dheer Sen Road.

Commuters To Take U-Turn 100 Metre Ahead

Under this new arrangement, implemented a week ago, those travelling from Raja Dheer Sen Marg toward Okhla Mandi will now have to take a U-turn 100 metre to the left of the intersection. Those travelling from the Ring Road toward Raja Dheer Sen Marg (toward the ISKCON Temple) will have to take a U-turn 100 metre past the intersection onto Captain Gaur Marg.

Srinivaspuri councilor Rajpal Singh said that the traffic police's initiative to keep the area free of traffic jams is commendable. It's certainly providing considerable relief to local residents.

LG Sought Cooperation From RWA

Speaking to the media last month, Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu spoke about seeking the suggestions and cooperation of RWAs to address the problem of traffic congestion. He emphasised the need to create new systems to address illegal roadside parking and the use of modern technology to improve street lighting and traffic management in the capital. The Traffic Department has taken this initiative, based on the suggestions of RWAs, in accordance with the Lieutenant Governor's instructions.
