Delhi: Two law students from Lucknow University have been arrested for using abusive language against the Chief Justice of India (CJI) and creating a ruckus inside the courtroom.
According to news agency ANI, the arrested individuals have been identified as Prabal Pratap Singh (24), a third-year law student, and Chandra Bhan (23), a second-year law student. Following an investigation, an FIR has been registered at the Tilak Marg police station under Sections 132, 221, 224, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with other sections.

'Mr Judicial Servant, I Order You...': Inside The Supreme Court Courtroom Drama
The incident occurred on July 10, 2026, in Court No. 13 of the Supreme Court during the hearing of SLP No. 31367/2026 (Prabal Pratap and others v. State of Uttar Pradesh). During the hearing, Prabal Pratap Singh Yadav, appearing as a petitioner-in-person, disrupted the court proceedings.
A video of the incident, which went viral on social media, shows Prabal Pratap Singh Yadav growing increasingly aggressive shortly after reading the opening lines of his case petition. Adopting an unusual tone, he was heard ordering the bench rather than presenting legal arguments.
"Mr. judicial servant, I order you to order the registration of an FIR against ACP Vikas Nagar, Lucknow," he stated, addressing the bench. The confrontational approach prompted an immediate intervention from Justice KV Viswanathan.
"You are ordering me? You are ordering us?" Justice Viswanathan asked. Suddenly, he threw case papers and used foul language for the Chief Justice of India before he could be taken away.
According to Live Law, Pratap appeared in person against the dismissal of his Writ Petition by the Allahabad High Court. The accused moved to the apex court against the conversion of his application under Section 173(4) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) into a private complaint case.
