Delhi Water Crisis News: The AAP government has mandated the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to impose a fine of Rs 2,000 for water wastage. This directive comes in response to a severe water shortage in the capital city, with Water Minister Atishi alleging that Haryana has not released Delhi's share of water from the Yamuna River.
The fine will be imposed for various activities, including using hoses to wash cars, overflowing water tanks, and using domestic water for construction and commercial purposes, Atishi said. The minister has instructed the DJB CEO to immediately deploy 200 teams across the city to enforce these measures and curb water wastage.

Beginning at 8 AM on Thursday, these teams will be on the ground to impose fines on those found wasting water. The team will also disconnect any illegal water connections at construction sites or commercial establishments.
Earlier on Tuesday, Atishi accused Haryana of not releasing Delhi's share of water since May 1 and said the government will approach the Supreme Court if it is not resolved within the next few days.
"Haryana has stopped the release of Delhi's share of water. The water level at Wazirabad was 674.5 feet on May 1. This is the average level that should be maintained. Last year in April, May, and June, the minimum level was maintained at 674.5 feet," Atishi said in the press conference.
