Delhi Rain: As heavy rains lashed Delhi-NCR on Wednesday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert for moderate to heavy rainfall on July 10. Moderate rain started in the early hours of Thursday in Delhi-NCR. According to the latest forecast, moderate showers with thunderstorms and lightning are expected to continue for the next 24 hours in the national capital and the adjacent areas. The weather department has advised residents to remain cautious due to severe waterlogging and prolonged traffic jams.
The maximum rainfall recorded from 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM showed Najafgarh received the highest amount of rain at 60 mm, followed by Aya Nagar with 50.5 mm, and Pragati Maidan with 37 mm. Heavy showers led to flight diversions on Wednesday evening. Four flights were diverted to Jaipur and two were diverted to Lucknow, PTI reported.
In a recent advisory, the District Administration Gurugram said, "All corporate offices & private institutions are advised to allow Work From Home on 10th July 2025 to prevent traffic congestion."

Delhi Weather: Moderate Showers To Continue Throughout The Week
The IMD issued an alert for rain in Delhi-NCR for Thursday as well. Moderate showers are likely to continue in Delhi throughout the week. The maximum temperature is likely to remain around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 23 degrees Celsius in the national capital and adjacent areas. Temperatures are likely to go down, and humidity will also be lower.
The Air Quality Index in Delhi is expected to hold steady in the satisfactory category for the next two days due to rainy weather conditions. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the AQI remained in the satisfactory category for the 14th consecutive day, with the air quality index in Delhi standing at 81 on Wednesday.
Delhi Rains: Waterlogged Roads And Traffic Snarls
Heavy downpour in Delhi and adjacent areas, like Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad and Noida, led to severe waterlogging and traffic snarls on Wednesday and Thursday. Heavy rain caused flooding on several major roads, disrupting traffic and worsening pedestrian movement.

Waterlogging was reported in several parts of the city, including Nehru Place, Kailash Colony, Siri Fort Road, Chirag Delhi flyover, Lajpat Nagar, Outer Ring Road, G K Marg, Akshardham, Ashram, Pul Prahladpur, ITO, M G Road, and National Highway 8.

Delhi Weather Forecast: IMD Changed Alert From Yellow To Red
Earlier on Wednesday morning, the IMD issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rain in the national capital. The weather department issued an orange alert in the afternoon and later upgraded it to a red alert in the evening. However, heavy rain started before the red alert was issued. The IMD issued an alert for heavy rain on Thursday as well.
