Delhi Weather News: The much-anticipated monsoon is set to reach the national capital by the end of this week, according to a forecast by a private weather agency. This will bring respite from the prevailing sultry conditions that have gripped the city.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), however, has not yet provided specifics on the exact timing of the monsoon's arrival in Delhi. Mahesh Palawat of Skymet Weather Services stated, "The monsoon is expected to reach Delhi on June 29 or 30." Typically, the monsoon current enters the city between June 27 and 29.

Last year, the monsoon arrived in Delhi on June 26, with the first showers recorded on June 30, according to available data.

The capital has been experiencing pre-monsoon showers, which have helped to moderate the scorching temperatures. The Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi's primary weather station, recorded a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, two degrees above the seasonal norm.

Furthermore, the city's weather has been influenced by a western disturbance, leading to a drop in the maximum temperature. Delhi has already recorded nine heatwave days this June, an increase compared to the previous two years.

Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast scattered light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and West Rajasthan on June 27. The rainfall activity is expected to intensify and become more widespread across these regions from June 28 to 30.
