Delhi Weather Update:  The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall in the national capital over the weekend. As per the weather forecast, Delhi is likely to get relief from the sweltering heat and humid weather with light showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning expected today evening and tomorrow (July 6).

Delhi Weather: IMD Issues Yellow Alert

According to the latest IMD forecast, the national capital will continue to remain cloudy with chances of light to moderate rain over the weekend. A yellow alert is in effect for July 5 and 6. Light to moderate showers may lash several parts of the city, accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms.

With overcast skies and showers, temperatures are likely to drop. The average temperature may hover around 33-35 degrees over the weekend. The national capital recorded 36.2 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Delhi Weather Update For July 7

According to IMD, rain will continue in Delhi but may decrease slightly, with chances of very light rainfall predicted between July 7-10. Thunderstorms and lightning may accompany light showers. Rain is likely to lash several areas throughout the week, offering a slight decrease in temperature. The temperature is likely to remain around 35 degrees Celsius. Though the monsoon arrived in the national capital on June 29, very parched light rain with humid weather was recorded throughout the week.

Monsoon Update In Other States

Apart from Delhi, the IMD issued a rain alert for several states of India. An orange alert was issued for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Goa, West Bengal, and coastal Karnataka. Several regions of Maharashtra are likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall on July 6 and 7.

Isolated heavy rainfall is also predicted in eastern Uttar Pradesh and western Rajasthan on July 5 and between July 8-10. A heavy rainfall alert is in place for Jammu on July 6.
