Delhi Weather Update: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi experienced its warmest day of the season on Wednesday, with the maximum temperature climbing to 36.8 degrees Celsius. This was around 8.4 degrees higher than the usual level. The night also remained warmer than normal, with the minimum temperature settling at 17.8 degrees Celsius, over four degrees above the seasonal average.
Last Saturday, the mercury had already reached 35.7 degrees Celsius, marking the earliest instance of such heat in the past 15 years. As per weather experts, the rise is mainly due to the lack of any major weather systems affecting the region.
“There has been no cloud cover, resulting in strong sunshine. The impact of western disturbances has also been negligible, causing the mercury to soar,” said Mahesh Palawat, vice-president at Skymet Weather, as quoted by Hindustan Times.
IMD Weather Forecast For Next Week
According to IMD, Delhi residents will have slight relief in the coming week. By March 17, the maximum temperature will hover between 30 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius.
As per Palawat, light rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in Delhi by March 15. Apart from this, temperatures will come down in view of cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan. Over the next few days, wind activity is also expected to pick up pace.
