Delhi Weather: Delhi's overall air quality remained in the "very poor" quality for the sixth consecutive day on Friday, while the city experienced its coldest night of the season with the temperature dropping to 9.5 degrees Celsius.
The nighttime temperature dipped a notch below normal on Friday, making it the lowest of the season so far, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The second coldest night of the season was recorded on Thursday when the temperature settled at 10.1 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature is expected to dip further next Friday (December) and settle at 8 degrees Celsius, as per AccuWeather.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the city recorded an average 24-hour air quality index (AQI) of 331 at 4 pm on Friday (November 29). An AQI between 301 and 400 is classified as "very poor", while levels above 400 are considered "severe".
Out of the 39 monitoring stations across Delhi, two stations -- Bawana (416) and Mundka (402) -- recorded air quality in the "severe" category. Of the remaining stations, 26 recorded "very poor" air quality, while nine reported "poor" air quality, according to the Sameer app.
In its five-day weather bulletin released at 04:45 PM, the IMD said, "There has been a slight fall in minimum temperature and slight rise in maximum temperature over Delhi/NCR during past 24hr. The Maximum and Minimum temperature over Delhi is in the range of 25 to 28°C and 08 to 12°C respectively. The maximum temperature was above normal by 1 to 2°C and the minimum temperature was below normal by 1 to 4°Cover most places."
"Smog/shallow fog is likely in the morning," the IMD said while predicting the weather in Delhi on Saturday (November). On Thursday, the Supreme Court ordered that all measures in place under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)-IV in Delhi, except those related to schools, would remain in effect until December 2. The court emphasised the need for strict enforcement and noted lapses in the implementation of GRAP-IV guidelines.
