Delhi Weather Today: At least six people died in rain-related incidents in Delhi as the Monsoon arrived with a fury early Friday morning, leading to the collapse of a portion of the roof at Terminal-1 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, waterlogging in several parts of the city which created problems for the commuters. The national capital recorded the highest rainfall in a single day in June in 88 years. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared the arrival of monsoon, revising its earlier onset forecast of May 29-30.
Delhi Rains: Check IMD Forecast
The IMD on Friday predicted that Delhi will receive ‘very heavy rainfall’ till July 1 and issued an Orange alert. “Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to experience this weather phenomenon on the 29th and 30th of June, while Punjab can expect heavy rainfall on the 30th of June and 1st of July. Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi are expected to receive heavy rainfall from the 29th of June to the 1st of July,” IMD said in its official release.

Flooding across Delhi caused traffic jams and saturated underpasses, with sites like Minto Bridge and Pragati Tunnel turning into rivers as drain capacities were breached.
Delhi-NCR Rain: Three Children Die In Greater Noida
Heavy rains also lashed surrounding areas of the national capital, creating problems for the residents. In Greater Noida, at least three children died after the wall of an under-construction house collapsed in the Dadri region. According to news agency ANI, the police said that there were a total of eight children who got stuck under the debris of the wall of an under-construction house, out of which three were declared dead by the doctors and the rest are being treated in the hospital.

Following severe waterlogging across Delhi-NCR and the airport roof collapse incident, a political slugfest erupted with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge alleging "corruption" and "criminal negligence". However, in a symbolic protest against the AAP, BJP Councillor Ravinder Singh Negi was seen rowing an inflatable boat through the flooded NH9 area.
