Delhi Weather: Bringing much needed relief from unusually high temperatures in early March, Delhi and parts of the NCR, including Noida and Gurugram, witnessed light rain and thunderstorms on Sunday morning. The showers significantly brought down temperatures across the region. As per IMD, a Western Disturbance is likely to impact the Western Himalayan region and adjoining plains on March 15 and 16.

IMD Alerts For Delhi-NCR
IMD has issued an orange alert for moderate rain, lightning and gusty winds in Delhi. Meanwhile, a yellow alert for light rain has been put in place for Noida and Gurugram. On Saturday, IMD had warned of isolated thunderstorms, lightning activity, gusty winds and possibility of hailstorms. The weather body had advised residents and travellers to stay updated with official weather updates and take necessary precautions.
The Delhi-NCR had reported a drop in Mercury on Saturday with cool winds blowing in the region during the evening and early morning hours. The temperatures are expected to drop further during the next 2-3 days.
"Due to a western disturbance approaching the western Himalayas, cyclonic activity has developed over central Pakistan adjoining Punjab and Haryana. As a result, parts of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi are likely to witness rainfall over the next two days. This is expected to be the season's first pre-monsoon rain, which has arrived about 10 days earlier than usual," Mahesh Palawat, vice president of meteorology and climate change at Skymet Weather, told PTI.

North India Weather Update
Punjab and Haryana Weather
A yellow alert has been issued for dust storms and rain as the pre-monsoon season approaches in Punjab. A warning has also been issued for hailstorms in some areas.
Uttar Pradesh Weather
Western Uttar Pradesh may witness rain and thundershowers on March 15 and 16, which is expected to provide some relief from the rising heat.
Himachal Weather
A yellow alert has been issued for Kullu, Chamba, and Kangra districts of Himachal Pradesh. Rain and snowfall are expected in higher altitude areas, along with lightning and strong winds with speeds of up to 40-50 km/h.
