Delhi Weather: Delhiites experienced a slight relief from cold wave conditions on Thursday as the minimum temperature was recorded above 5 degrees Celsius, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Meanwhile, several flights departing from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport were delayed. At least 18 trains coming to the national capital from several parts of the country are also running late, as reported by news agency ANI.

Videos shared by news agency ANI show passengers facing difficulty as several flights were delayed due to cold waves. While passengers at the New Delhi Railway Station also faced similar problems due to delayed trains.

Nearly 50 flights and more than 20 trains were delayed due to dense fog conditions in various areas of north India. The meteorological department has reportedly issued a yellow alert for moderate to dense fog till Saturday.

“There were easterly winds towards the morning hours on Wednesday, which are comparatively warm, speed was about 10-12 km. This led to an improvement in the weather. The wind direction again turned north-westerly but the minimum temperature will hover around 5 degrees Celsius for the next few days,” Kuldeep Srivastava, head of the regional weather forecasting centre at IMD said.
Earlier on Wednesday, very dense fog was witnessed in isolated parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and northwest Madhya Pradesh, at 11.30 pm on Wednesday, as per the IMD. The minimum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
While coldwave conditions continued in several parts of north India on Wednesday including Punjab and Haryana. According to IMD, Ballowal Saunkhri in the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district of Punjab recorded a minimum temperature of 0 degrees Celsius. Amritsar recorded a low of 2 degrees Celsius while Ludhiana and Patiala experienced cold wave conditions at 2.8 and 4.5 degrees Celsius.
