Delhi Weather Update: After days of intense heat, Delhi finally got some relief as rainfall and cool winds brought pleasant weather across the city. However, this break from the heatwave is likely to be short-lived. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures are expected to rise again after April 15, with heatwave conditions returning from April 16 onwards.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Delhi has issued a yellow alert for April 12, forecasting light rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong surface winds. On Saturday, temperatures in the national capital region are expected to range between 19 degrees C and 36 degrees C.

Dust Storms Disrupt Delhi on Friday Evening
On Friday, a strong dust storm and gusty winds swept through Delhi, uprooting trees and causing significant power cuts in many areas. Several electric poles collapsed, leading to electricity disruptions. Over 15 flights were diverted at Indira Gandhi International Airport due to bad weather.

Airport operator DIAL shared on X (formerly Twitter), "Due to inclement weather conditions in Delhi, some flights at Delhi Airport are impacted. Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight updates."

Weather Outlook for Other States
The IMD has issued an orange alert for parts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Sikkim, and North Bengal, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds on April 12.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is expected in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh on April 12, and in Assam and Meghalaya until April 15.
- Uttarakhand may receive light to moderate showers today.
- Northeast and East India are likely to experience rain over the next six days.
- A drop of 2 degrees C in maximum temperatures is expected in Northwest and Central India over the next three days, followed by a rise of 3–5 degrees C afterwards.
- The IMD also warned of possible dust storms in parts of Rajasthan and thundersqualls in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan on April 12.
