Delhi Weather Forecast: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rain on June 24 and 25. Monsoon is likely to arrive in the national capital on Tuesday. Delhi was covered with cloudy skies and experienced light drizzle on Monday. “Conditions are favourable for rain in the city. Light to moderate showers are expected on both Tuesday and Wednesday,” IMD said.
Rainfall In Delhi Over The Years
The IMD predicted the arrival of monsoon in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, as well as West UP, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu within the next two days. The south-west monsoon advances over Delhi around June 27. In 2024, the monsoon in Delhi arrived on June 28 and in 2022, it arrived on June 25.
Delhi on Monday recorded rain in some parts of the city. Safdarjung recorded 4.1 mm of rainfall between 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, while Lodhi Road reported 4.3 mm of rainfall.
Air Quality To Improve As Monsoon Arrives
The Centre’s Air Quality Early Warning System predicted that the air quality is expected to improve with the onset of monsoon in the national capital. Delhi recorded an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 112 (moderate) at 4 PM on Monday, while the AQI was 92 (satisfactory) on Monday. The AQI is expected to return to satisfactory levels on Tuesday.
Temperature Likely To Fall In Delhi
Delhi experienced humidity and cloudy skies on Monday. The maximum temperature was 36 degrees Celsius, two degrees below the normal temperature, while the normal temperature was 28 degrees Celsius. With the onset of monsoon in Delhi on Tuesday, the temperature is likely to remain around 34-36 degrees Celsius and 25-27 degrees Celsius.
