The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said that the national capital might get some relief amid extreme heat with a chance of light rainfall.
Dr Naresh Kumar, an IMD Senior Scientist, told ANI that the temperature in Eastern India could reach 44 degrees Celsius within the next 4-5 days. “In Delhi, the temperature is expected to remain around 38 degrees Celsius in the coming 2-3 days. After this, it may increase slowly by 1-2 degrees and with it, there is a possibility of light rain on Monday."
As temperatures in East India continue to rise, the IMD has issued a heatwave warning for several states. In the past week, the weather service reported that temperatures in the northern, southern, and eastern states had increased by four to six degrees Celsius above average.
The MeT department reported that this week's temperature in Delhi is predicted to be higher than 38 degrees Celsius. After a few days, the temperature in Delhi-NCR is also probably going to rise by one or two degrees. According to IMD, temperatures in eastern India could rise as high as 44 degrees this week.
