A woman died by suicide after jumping from the fourth floor of Noida’s GIP Mall. The police received the information on Wednesday night and after investigation, it was revealed that the woman died by jumping from the stairs of the fire exit gate.

The woman identified as Akanksha Sood, was a resident of Delhi’s Karawal Nagar and she was reportedly mentally stressed and her divorce case was also under process. The police took the body into custody and after postmortem handed it over to the family.

According to ADCP Mishra, during the interrogation of the deceased’s family members, her brother and sister-in-law revealed that the woman was married in Delhi. However, just 15 days after the marriage, a dispute broke out between the woman and her husband, leading to a divorce case that had been ongoing. 

The family members believe that the mental stress caused by the ongoing legal battle may have contributed to her taking the drastic step of ending her life.

"A woman died by suicide by jumping from the stairs of the fire exit near Gate No. 3 of GIP Mall after 9:30 pm last night. The Aadhar card and PAN card found with the woman revealed that she was a resident of Karawal Nagar. Her brother and sister-in-law told that she was married in 2017 and her divorce case is going on. She was always under stress and due to that stress, she committed suicide,” DCP Ram Badan Singh said.
