Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway To Be Linked With Bahadurgarh Bypass; Will Improve Connectivity In Six Haryana Districts

The Union Road Transport Ministry has approved the state government’s proposal to connect the Delhi-Katra Green Field Corridor with the Bahadurgarh bypass. This will make it easier for travelers to reach Delhi from the expressway, which starts from Jasore Khedi village of Haryana’s Jhajjar district.

The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway is expected to reduce the travel time from Delhi to Amritsar to four hours and Katra to six hours. The current distance from Delhi to Katra by road is 727 kilometres, which will be shortened by 58 kilometres after the completion of the expressway.

The expressway will be 671 km long, passing through Haryana, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. In Haryana, it will cover 137 km, crossing Jhajjar, Rohtak, Sonipat, Jind, Karnal and Kaithal. It will also link with the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway and the 152D Green Corridor, which are other major expressways in the region.

The first phase of the project, from New Delhi to Jalandhar, is underway and is likely to be finished this year. The expressway is part of the government’s ambitious plan to build a network of green field corridors across states that would improve the connectivity to boost economic activities in multiple regions of the country.
