An Air India flight traveling from Hong Kong to Delhi was forced to turn back on Monday after the pilot reported a suspected technical issue mid-air, news agency ANI reported, citing sources.

Flight AI315, operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, departed Hong Kong for Delhi but returned to its origin as a precautionary measure.

“Air India flight AI315 en route from Hong Kong to Delhi was forced to return to its origin after the pilot suspected a technical issue mid-air. The flight, AI315, operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, departed Hong Kong for Delhi: Sources,” ANI X (formally known as twitter) post read. 

Earlier, a Lufthansa flight bound for Hyderabad was forced to turn back and return to Frankfurt Airport in Germany after failing to receive landing clearance due to a bomb threat.

Flight LH752 had departed Frankfurt and was scheduled to arrive at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday. However, the aircraft made a U-turn mid-route. ANI quoted Lufthansa Airlines stating, “We did not receive a permit to land in Hyderabad, and that's why the aircraft took a U-turn and returned.”

The unexpected diversion sparked confusion, with the airline citing the lack of landing clearance as the reason, while airport authorities pointed to the bomb threat as the cause.

Meanwhile, public outrage has intensified against Air India following the tragic Boeing 787 Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad. Many are demanding a complete overhaul of safety protocols and greater accountability from the airline’s management.
