The flight number IX1511 primarily serves defence operations, but has recently begun limited civilian operations. Air India Express is a subsidiary of Air India. The airline, issuing a statement, acknowledged the issue and apologised to the passengers for the inconvenience.

"Our Hindon-Kolkata flight operated, with a delay, due to a snag on the originally assigned aircraft. Guests were offered complimentary rescheduling or cancellation with a full refund. We regret the inconvenience," an Air India Express spokesperson.

According to sources, the last-minute fault was caught by a crew, and the plane, all set to depart, had to remain stuck on the runway for over an hour, NDTV reported. The nature of the technical issue was not immediately disclosed, but ground engineers were called in to assess the situation, leading to a delay in departure.
