Delhi recorded the best air quality in February compared to the last nine years as the air quality index (AQI) stayed below 200 on most days, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Delhi also witnessed the highest rainfall in the month since 2013, which helped in washing away the pollutants and improving the air quality.

The average AQI of Delhi in February 2024 was 223, the lowest since 2015. The CPCB data showed that there were no days with severe air pollution (AQI above 400) and only four days with "very poor'' air quality (AQI between 300 and 400).

The majority of days had poor (AQI between 200 and 300) or moderate (AQI below 200) air quality, indicating a significant improvement from the previous years. Meanwhile, until February 28, there were 14 days with an AQI below 200 (moderate), the CPCB data stated.
