Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor: In a bizarre incident, a lift at Rapid Rail’s South Station in Meerut stopped midway while going from the ground floor to the first floor on Sunday evening. The lift was carrying 22 passengers, including women and children, who were trapped for nearly an hour and fifteen minutes.

Around 7 PM, the group had arrived at the station to travel to Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad. As they boarded the lift from the ground floor, it abruptly stopped halfway, as per jagran.com.

Due to suffocation, a woman and a young man fainted inside the lift. Both were later admitted to the hospital for treatment.

It took engineers approximately 35 minutes to reach the spot. After about 40 minutes of effort, the lift doors were finally opened, and the passengers were rescued.

What Happened At Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor?

The incident occurred at the Meerut South station on the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) line. According to Jagran.com, Sanjeev Kushwah, a resident of Kailashpuri Garh Road who was inside the lift, managed to inform his brother Rahul Kushwah via mobile. A few other passengers also contacted their family members.

Rahul Kushwah rushed to the station and alerted the security personnel. Despite efforts, the lift remained stuck for 40 minutes, causing panic among those inside. Once the doors were opened, Sanjeev Kushwah and a woman were found unconscious.

Sanjeev was treated and discharged from Subharti Hospital, while the woman was first taken home and later to a hospital by her family. Both are reportedly in stable condition.
