Delhi-NCR News: The work to extend the metro line from Bahadurgarh to Assoda, which was a big issue in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, has intensified. In a meeting held between Chief Minister Nayab Saini and Union Minister Manohar Lal on Tuesday, it was decided to conduct a final feasibility survey of the metro line extension.

The state government had announced in the budget presented in February 2023 to extend the Bahadurgarh metro to Assoda. In this episode, a ridership survey has been conducted by the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC).

Only after finding the number of passengers from Bahadurgarh to Assoda in the ridership survey to be in line with the extension of the metro line, the state government now decided to conduct its final survey, in which, along with ground feasibility, other aspects related to this line will also be studied. Only after this, its detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared by HMRTC.

After the DPR is prepared, the work of expansion of this line will be started by the government. This metro line will be connected to the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) and Kundli Manesar Palwal (KMP) Expressway being built between Sonipat and Palwal. In this way, more than 50 thousand people from more than 15 nearby villages in Bahadurgarh will benefit from it.

The completion of this project worth crores of rupees to extend the metro line to Asoda will lead to industrial development in Bahadurgarh and its surrounding areas. Not only will industrial investment increase here, but new employment opportunities will also be created. The people here will have easier access to the capital Delhi.

This line will be built on the divider of Old Delhi Rohtak Road from Sankhoul to Jakhoda in Bahadurgarh and then in the green belt along NH-9 till KMP. The land for this metro project has already been identified in the Bahadurgarh 2041 Master Plan prepared by the District Town Planner.

On 24 June 2018, during the inauguration of Bahadurgarh Metro, Chief Minister Manohar Lal had demanded the extension of the metro line from Bahadurgarh to Sampla in the presence of the then Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Puri. The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs approved the Terms of Reference sent by DMRC and the Haryana government on 16 October 2018.

On 16 April 2019, a joint team of officials of DMRC and Haryana Urban Development Authority conducted a preliminary survey of the spot from Bahadurgarh to Sampla, in which 12 stations were proposed to be built on this 17.40 km long route, but later HMRTC suggested to build eight metro stations.

On this basis, HMRTC got the technical survey of this project done from DMRC. In the year 2020, DMRC had not described the metro project till Sampla as practical in the technical study; in such a situation, the state government had withdrawn from the metro extension till Sampla. Now it has been decided to extend the metro line to Asoda again.
