In a bid to improve connectivity between two major airports in the National Capital Region (NCR), a parliamentary committee has asked the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry to start a Rapid Regional Transit System (RRTS) between Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, Delhi and Noida International Airport, Jewar. The committee, led by MP Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, highlighted the importance of high-speed connectivity between both airports while ensuring safety measures for NCR commuters.
IGI Airport To Jewar Via RRTS
The committee laid down the importance of high-speed connectivity between IGI Airport and Noida International Airport. They asked the Union Ministry to work with the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) to connect both airports to the RRTS network. Earlier, the IGI Airport was a part of the Delhi-SNB corridor plan, but the route is currently being revised, the Times Property report said.

High-Speed RRTS Connectivity For Noida, Ghaziabad And Greater Noida
The parliamentary committee highlighted the significance of Noida International Airport in Jewar for residents of Noida, Ghaziabad and Greater Noida. Since there are many homes, hospitals, offices and schools in these areas, a high-speed RRTS network would boost connectivity and transport a large volume of commuters to the Jewar airport.
Additionally, the committee also sought to put up noise barriers near places like hospitals, schools, offices and homes along the Delhi-Meerut route to reduce disturbance caused by Namo Bharat trains. The committee noted that there are hospitals within 10 km of the Namo Bharat corridor and are ready to assist if needed. The staff are also trained to handle emergencies such as strokes and heart attacks.
The parliamentary committee asked the Union Ministry for a fast and secure RRTS connection between IGI airport and Jewar airport, with proper noise control and emergency safety measures ensuring high-speed connectivity and safer travel for commuters.
