A day after ex-Delhi Congress President joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday, Delhi Congress, Devender Yadav, who was made the interim chief of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, took charge as the Delhi Congress President. Soon after taking over the responsibilities, Yadav maintained that he would work hard to fulfill the duties given to him, adding that INDIA bloc would win all seven seats in Delhi in the Lok Sabha elections.

"It is an important day for me because I have been given a big responsibility. I want to thank the central leadership for showing faith in me and want to assure them I will work hard to fulfill all my responsibilities. These are difficult times, but we will work and you will see that the INDIA alliance will win all 7 seats in Delhi to strengthen the Congress party," he told ANI.

Congress witnessed political unrest after Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely left the party and joined the saffron regiment. While leaving the party, Arvinder had mentioned that he was disappointed with Congress-AAP alliance. While he had also stated that he wouldn't join any party, he contradicted his own statement a week after joining BJP.

He resigned on April 28 and wrote a letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge citing that he was against the alliance between Congress and AAP in Delhi.

Other Congress Leaders Also Joined BJP With Arvinder Singh Lovely

Several other Congress leaders including former Congress MLAs Raj Kumar Chauhan, Naseeb Singh and Neeraj Basoya and former Youth Congress President Amit Mallik also joined BJP along with Lovely.

The AAP is running for four seats in the Lok Sabha elections, while the Congress is fighting for three seats in Delhi, under the seat-sharing agreement under the INDIA bloc. However, a section of the Delhi Congress unit has been against the alliance with AAP.
