Dhanteras 2024: As Diwali approaches, celebrations begin with Dhanteras, also known as Dhantrayodashi. This year, Dhanteras will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 29, marking the first day of a five-day festive period leading up to Diwali.
Dhanteras is a occasion dedicated to honouring three deities: Lord Kuber, the god of wealth, Lord Dhanvantari, the god of Ayurveda and health and Goddess Lakshmi, who embodies prosperity. The festival is not only a time for worship but also a day rich in traditions aimed at fostering wealth and well-being.
A common practice on Dhanteras is the purchase of gold, silver, utensils and even brooms, all of which are believed to attract good fortune into households. This ritual has become an essential part of the celebrations.
The auspicious Dhanteras Puja Muhurat will take place from 7:00 PM to 8:49 PM.
