Operation Sindoor Updates: Amid several fake videos being circulated post Indian Army's 'Operation Sindoor' against the terror outfits of Pakistan, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) on Thursday fact-checked a video circulated by Pakistan-based social media handles. While sharing a video, the social media user had claimed that the visuals belonged to Amritsar, where the Pakistani army had allegedly attacked. However, the PIB clarified that the circulated video was old, adding that it was from a wildfire in 2024.
The agency further advised the people to not share these videos, further suggesting they rely on government sources for the updates. "Pakistan-based handles are spreading old videos falsely alleging strikes on a military base in Amritsar. The video being shared is from a wildfire from 2024. Avoid sharing unverified information and rely only on official sources from the Government of India for accurate information," the PIB Fact Check wrote in a post on X.

Apart from this, the agency had also fact-checked a fake advisory on Wednesday that claimed that the citizens needed to store necessary things such as food and medicine considering the escalated situation. However, the fact-checking agency stated that the government has not released any advisory.
"An image of an advisory is being shared online, claiming that the government has urged individuals to take precautionary measures and keep essential items ready at home. This claim is FAKE. The government has not issued any such advisory," PIB stated in a post on X. Apart from this, the agency also fact-checked several videos and images claiming that the Pakistani army had shot down Indian fighter jets and Srinagar airbase had been targeted.
“In a video shared by several pro-Pakistan handles, it is being falsely claimed that the Pakistan Air Force has targeted Srinagar airbase. The video shared is old and NOT from India. The video is from sectarian clashes that took place in the year 2024, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan,” PIB Fact Check stated.
