Doda Encounter: Four Indian Army personnel, including an officer, have succumbed to injuries they had sustained in a gunfight with terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir's Doda district, defence officials said on Tuesday as the encounter continued. An army chopper was also spotted hovering above the encounter site in the morning as security personnel on the ground continued their search for the terrorists.
The tally of those injured on the security forces' side initially stood at five, with four of them succumbing to their injuries eventually. On Tuesday morning, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Indian Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi, who apprised him about the ground situation and the ongoing operation, the minister's office informed via a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Doda Encounter: Overview
The encounter broke out on Monday evening when teams of the Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group of J&K Police jointly initiated a cordon and search operation at Dhari Gote Urarbagi in Desa forest belt, some 55 km from Doda town, officials cited by news agency PTI said.

"Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation by Indian Army and JKP was in progress in General area North of Doda. Contact with terrorists was established tonight at about 2100h in which heavy firefight ensued," Indian Army's White Knights Corps had posted on X at the outset of the encounter.
Troops Pursued Terrorists
Despite challenging terrains and thick foliage, the terrorists were chased by troops present at the scene when they attempted to flee after a brief exchange of fire, official sources told PTI, adding that this led to further gunfight in the woods around 9 pm.
