Jammu And Kashmir:  In a strong criticism of the regional parties in the valley, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain on Monday blamed them for Pakistan's ‘successful’ infiltration into the Kashmiri civil society. He further accused "so-called mainstream political parties" of cultivating terror network leaders and harbouring those "who facilitated recruitment and arranged finances were never investigated."

"Pakistan successfully infiltrated all important aspects of civil society, thanks to so-called mainstream or regional politics in the valley. There is ample evidence to show that many had owned the art of running with the hare and hunting with the hound, which left both the common man and the security bewildered, frightened, and confused," Swain said in a strong message at an event in UT.

He lambasted the political leaders of these parties for the 'normalisation' of visiting the homes of killed terrorists and expressing sympathy in public. Making serious accusations against the regional political parties, the police chief said that while new terror recruits were allowed to be eliminated "those who facilitated recruitment and arranged finances were never investigated."

"Visiting the homes of killed terrorists and expressing sympathy in public was normal. While the elimination of recruits in terrorism was allowed and tacitly encouraged, those who facilitated recruitment and arranged finances were never investigated... SP rank officers were arrested and put in jails alongside terrorists, for crimes they had never committed," DGP said.

The remarks of the J&K police chief came a day after the Indian Army successfully foiled an infiltration bid at the Karen sector in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.

"The drowning of two girls in 2014 was allowed to be hijacked by narrative terrorism who held the valley at ransom, hartals, and rioting for many weeks. A very detailed investigation by the CBI and verified by the AIIMS forensics proved it was an accident. Things had come to such a pass that the so-called mainstream political parties had started cultivating leaders of terror networks and sometimes directly to further their electoral prospects," he added.
