A video featuring a senior official from Madhya Pradesh offering unconventional advice to girl students about conceiving a "vigorous child" has gone viral on social media. In the clip, Shahdol DIG Savita Sohane is heard suggesting practices such as avoiding conception on the night of a full moon and performing "surya namaskar" for healthier offspring.
The video, reportedly from an October 4 state government awareness program on girls' safety, shows DIG advising students to "bring a new child on Earth" through careful planning. She emphasised the need to bow before the sun, offer water and perform namaskar to ensure the birth of a vigorous child. Her statement, ''Do not conceive on the full moon day,'' has drawn significant attention and mixed reactions online.

DIG Savita Sohane, who served as a lecturer in Sagar district before joining the police force 31 years ago, defended her remarks. She stated that her advice was rooted in information gathered during her search for spiritual fulfilment. The official also noted that she regularly addresses students in schools to share her insights.
Addressing the controversy, Savita Sohane clarified that her speech lasted over an hour, but only a small portion was selectively shared online. She explained that her suggestion to avoid conception on full moon nights aligns with Hindu beliefs, which consider the time sacred.
Congress leader Digvijaya Singh also objected to the statements made by the official and asked Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to act on the incident. The video’s viral nature has sparked debate about the appropriateness of her comments in an official capacity and the implications of such advice among the girl students.
