A drunk teacher named Rishi Kumar from Delhi’s Narela allegedly assaulted a Zomato delivery boy and refused to pay for the food he had ordered, police said on Wednesday. After the refusal, the delivery partner, Arjun, called the police for help. When two policemen arrived, Kumar, who was heavily intoxicated, misbehaved with them and was taken to the police station, where a medical test confirmed he was drunk.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred on September 29 when two men had ordered food online. When Arjun reached their location, they hurled abuses at him, snatched the order, and refused to pay, police said. CCTV footage from outside the building shows officers forcibly escorting Rishi Kumar down the stairs, with the delivery partner also visible in the recording.

DCP Outer North, Hareshwar V Swamy said, "This incident happened on 29 September. We received a PCR call at around 9:55 pm from the delivery boy who said that the customer had taken the food delivery but was refusing to pay and was also misbehaving with him. The PCR team reached the address as conveyed by the complainant and tried to talk to the accused, who misbehaved with the police too. The two people in the apartment were drunk. They were taken to the hospital, where an MLC was done. The delivery boy did not register a formal complaint because he had to proceed for another delivery. The two were released after being counselled."

Police said that when they questioned the accused, identified as Rishi Kumar, a schoolteacher, he verbally abused the officers as well and initially refused to accompany them for questioning. The two policemen then took him to a hospital for a medical test, which confirmed alcohol consumption.

Police added that Arjun did not file a formal complaint because he had more orders to deliver. Kumar was counselled and sent back home after the test. However, officers later discovered that he had given a false name, ‘Ram Kumar,’ during the medical examination in an attempt to conceal his identity. A probe into the matter is currently underway.
