Delhi Liquor Ban: Delhi will observe a dry day on April 18 in view of Good Friday. All liquor shops across the national capital are expected to remain shut on Friday, April 18. As per an official order from the excise department, liquor outlets in Delhi will not open on Good Friday.

The dry days for liquor licensees have been declared in accordance with provisions of Rule 52 of the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, Excise Commissioner Sunny Singh said the order issued in March. The licensees have also been directed to exhibit the order at a conspicuous place on their licensed premises, it added.

What's Open, What's Closed in Delhi?

Schools And Colleges Closed 

All government schools and colleges will remain closed for the day, in line with the gazetted holiday. Most private schools have also declared a holiday.

Offices To Remain Shut

While government offices will remain shut, the status of private offices may vary, with some choosing to remain closed or allow flexible work hours, depending on internal policies.

Essential Services

Essential services, including hospitals, emergency medical services, police stations, and fire departments, will remain fully operational to ensure public safety and support.

Transport Services 

Delhi Metro will run as per its regular schedule, with no disruption expected. Similarly, DTC buses and other forms of public transport will operate normally, providing convenience to commuters across the city.

Markets And Malls

Markets, malls, and restaurants are expected to stay open, although a few Christian-run establishments may remain closed. Churches across Delhi will hold special prayers and services to mark the day.
