A Dubai-bound Emirates flight was delayed at Chennai International Airport on Tuesday (September 24) night after smoke was spotted coming from the tail end during refuelling around 9:40 PM. The ground staff alerted the pilots, following which they shut down the engines.
Firefighters quickly reached the spot to manage the situation and technical experts also conducted an inspection to examine if any repairs were needed before departure. The exact cause of the smoke is yet to be determined.
The flight delay left 320 passengers waiting in the bustling terminal. The flight reportedly took off with 280 passengers after all necessary inspections were conducted.
In another incident, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission of Chandigarh directed Air Mauritius to pay Rs 51,538 to a city-based couple for a flight delay that caused them significant losses.
