Durg Bus Accident: As many as 15 people were killed after in Chhattisgarh's Durg district after a bus carrying employees of a private firm plunged into a 'murum' soil mine pit on Tuesday night. At least a dozen others were injured in the Durg bus accident. The wounded victims were taken to a nearby hospital.

The bus accident in Chhattisgarh occurred around 8:30 pm near Khapri village under Kumhari police station limits. The victims, employees of a distillery company, were returning home from work when the bus, skidded off the road and fell into the 40-feet-deep 'murum' mine. Murum is a type of soil which is mostly used for construction.

Following the bus accident in Durg, the police rushed a team to the spot and launched a rescue operation, news agency PTI cited City Superintendent of Police (Chhavni area) Harish Patil as saying. Further, Durg Superintendent of Police Jitendra Shukla stated that the authorities are investigating the accident.

Responding to the Durg bus accident, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai mourned the loss of lives. He further said adequate arrangements were made for treatment of the injured people. "Received the news about death of 11 employees of a private company in a bus accident. I pray that departed souls rest in peace and may God give strength to the bereaved family members," Sai said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reacted to the Chhattisgarh bus accident and expressed grief over the deaths. PM Modi assured the people that all possible help would be provided to the victims by the state government.
