In a shocking and cold-blooded act, a man in Gorakhpur shot his wife dead in the middle of a crowded market and later told police he felt “no regret” about what he had done. His reason? “She was eating away all his money.” The accused, Vishwakarma Chauhan, fired two bullets at his wife, Mamta Chauhan, during a public argument on Wednesday evening, killing her on the spot.

The horrifying incident was captured on CCTV. Footage shows the couple arguing outside a photo studio before Chauhan pulled out a pistol and fired at close range. One bullet struck Mamta in the chest, the other in her hand. She collapsed immediately and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Investigators revealed that the couple had been married for 14 years but were currently going through divorce proceedings. Mamta, who worked at a private company on Bank Road, had reportedly been seeking child support and the transfer of farmland as part of the settlement.
