Following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET-UG paper leak controversy, the central government has constituted a high-powered task force to recommend comprehensive reforms for examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Key Objectives Of NTA Exam Reform Panel

The task force has been charged with reviewing the existing examination framework and recommending reforms to make NTA's test process transparent, secure, and technology-driven. Its primary focus will be on strengthening cybersecurity, enhancing logistical planning, and overhauling the complete examination cycle to restore public confidence in competitive examinations.

The announcement comes amid a wider push by the Centre to revamp the examination system following controversies over paper leaks and irregularities in the competitive examinations, particularly the NEET-UG 2026 examination.

'Govt Has Taken Major Steps For Student Welfare': PM Modi

In a video message on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the government is fully committed to building an examination system that is "trustworthy, transparent, and makes maximum use of technology." He assured that the task force's recommendations will be implemented promptly to restore credibility and reliability for future examinations.

"The Government of India has continuously taken several major steps for the welfare of students. Those who played with the future of students are now rotting in jail. We have already set up fast-track courts, and tomorrow in Parliament, we will move forward with a new law containing stringent provisions," PM Modi said.
