After surgery by a fake doctor led to 7 casualties in MP's Damoh, a fresh report of his link to the death of former Chhattisgarh Speaker Rajendra Prasad Shukla has raised concerns. As per the NDTV report, he performed surgery on Shukla at a private hospital in Bilaspur. During the surgery, he died in 2006.

The fake doctor, Narendra Yadav, was passed off as a UK-based doctor at that time. After Shukla's death, an inquiry was ordered, but noting concrete action followed.

Almost two decades later, his linkage to seven deaths in Damoh's missionary hospital has raised concerns. Report quoted Justice (Retd.) Anil Shukla, a family member of the late Speaker, saying, "We found out even back then that he was not qualified. If the system had acted then, so many innocent lives could have been saved today".

Recalling the ordeal, Justice Shukla added, "My father underwent surgery, and I was present at the time. I grew suspicious when the catheter had to be repeatedly inserted. Later, others also told us the doctor was a fraud. But Apollo Hospital introduced him as a 'London-returned' expert and praised him so much that we had no choice but to believe."

He added, "Now, the government must take suo motu cognizance of this and order an inquiry by a sitting High Court judge so that justice can be served to the victims."

After the alleged expose of his involvement in the ex-Speaker's murder, Bilaspur CMHO Dr Pramod Tiwari said, "I have sent a team to investigate the matter and called for all documents. If he was practicing without proper registration, it is a very serious matter."

Meanwhile, Apollo Bilaspur Executive Devesh Gopal said, "This is a very old case, around 18 to 19 years old. We will only be able to provide details after verifying the relevant documents. What steps were taken at that time will become clear after reviewing the paperwork."

Notably, the case in Damoh came to light after families of victims came forward, which led to a shocking development that the fake doctor conducted 15 surgeries, out of which 7 died.

Known to his patients as Dr N John Camm, is a resident of Dehradun and has an unverifiable past. He has been arrested, and an investigation is underway. MP CM Mohan Yadav has said that action will be taken against all responsible and no one will be spared.
