Jagran Correspondent, Faridabad: A shocking incident has come to light from Faridabad, where a young man was severely mauled by a dog. When he was taken to the hospital, his behaviour changed drastically. He suddenly began lunging at people, growling, and attempting to bite them. The incident terrified everyone in the district.
Investigation revealed that the victim did not receive the vaccine, which must be administered immediately after a dog bite to prevent the fatal progression of the virus.
Untreated Dog Bite Victim Turns Aggressive
On Friday afternoon, a young man, Sahil, a resident of the Sarai Khwaja area, was rushed to the Civil Hospital after showing extremely aggressive and strange behaviour.
According to the individuals who brought him in, Sahil had been bitten by a dog several days ago but had likely not sought immediate medical treatment. Due to not receiving a rabies injection, his mental state deteriorated, and by Friday, his behaviour had become completely abnormal as he began lunging at people, growling, and attempting to bite them, causing widespread panic in the district, Jagran.com reported.
What Happened Next?
Upon receiving information about the patient's abnormal behaviour, a team from the Palla police station was rushed to the Civil Hospital. Health department officials immediately initiated treatment for the young man. Speaking to Jagran.com, officials stated that the patient is currently being treated based on suspicion of rabies-like symptoms. However, they noted rabies can only be confirmed after a thorough medical examination.
Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, authorities have advised anyone who came into direct contact with the young man to immediately receive the anti-rabies vaccine.
Rising Dog Bite Cases Raise Alarm
The incident comes days after a similar case was reported in Ballabhgarh, where a young man developed rabies-like symptoms after a dog bite. Currently, the Civil Hospital'S OPD handles approximately 100 dog bite cases daily, and the steady rise in these cases has raised public concern.
Dr Vikas Goyal, Senior Medical Officer at the Civil Hospital, emphasised that individuals should not delay seeking medical attention after a dog bite. He stated that prioritising treatment is essential, as timely treatment is the only way to prevent the risk.
