Faridabad Terror Plot: The family of Dr Muzammil Ganaie, who was arrested following the recovery of 360 kg of explosives from his rented accommodation in Faridabad, has claimed they had no indication of his involvement in any terror-related activities.

“He is being accused of being a big terrorist,” said his brother, Azad Shakil.

Speaking to PTI from their residence in Pulwama, Shakil said, “Allegations are being made that some material was recovered from him. He has been working as a doctor in Delhi for the past three years. We are not being allowed to meet him. He visited home twice a year. He is unmarried... We have no knowledge of any such activity. There has been no case against any member of our family in the last fifty years.”

Shakil added that their family, who are farmers, had previously been targeted by stone-pelters for being nationalist. “We are completely Indian and have taken stones for India. Anyone in the village can verify this,” he said.

Defending his brother, he added, “You can ask anyone about him. The allegations are serious, but we haven’t been allowed to see him yet.”

Shakil also revealed that Dr Muzammil had come home recently for his sister’s wedding, which was supposed to take place on Sunday but has now been cancelled.

Their mother, Naseema, said, “He left home four years ago to work as a doctor in Delhi. We had no contact with him during that time. When we heard of his arrest, we found out through others. We tried to meet him, but police didn’t allow us. Even my other son has been arrested. They are saying my son is a suspect in the Delhi blast. I don’t know anything about it. I just want both my sons to be released.”

Shakil further mentioned that Muzammil had last visited Kashmir when their father underwent surgery.

Who Is Dr Muzammil Shakil, MBBS Lecturer Linked To The Faridabad Terror Plot?

During an operation in Faridabad’s Fatehpur Taga, Jammu and Kashmir and Faridabad Police recovered 2,563 kg of explosives packed in 50 sacks from the home of an imam, a close associate of terrorist Muzammil Shakeel. Shakeel is a doctor from Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama, and a key link in the interstate and transnational terror module of Jaish-e-Mohamamd and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind outfits.

The police teams have been raiding the house belonging to Irfan, the mosque's imam, since Monday morning.

The huge recovery comes a day after 350 kg of explosives and several arms and ammunition were recovered from a rented accommodation on Sunday in Faridabad. According to the initial police probe, the recovered substance is likely ammonium nitrate.

Both the accommodations were rented by Shakeel. Additionally, the police have arrested a woman doctor working at the Al-Falah Medical College and Hospital after an assault rifle and a pistol were recovered from her car. The woman doctor was traced after Shakeel’s interrogation.

Shakeel also worked at Al-Falah Medical College and Hospital. He was arrested 10 days ago after evidence linking him to Jaish-e-Mohammed emerged.

Earlier, a Kashmiri doctor from Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur, Dr Adil Ahmad Rather was arrested for allegedly sticking posters in support of Jaish-e-Mohammed (a terror outfit) in Srinagar.
