As talks between farmers and the government fail, the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march will today restart from the Haryana-Punjab Shambhu Border, where farmers have been stopped by the security forces. During the meeting on Sunday, the government proposed there will be procurement of pulses, maize, and cotton at MSP by government agencies for five years. The unions turned down the proposal, asserting that it was 'not in farmers' interest'.
Now, the farmers are adamant about reaching Delhi to press their demands further.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher requested PM Modi to come forward and dissolve the ongoing contention by making a law on MSP. He also said they should be permitted to reach Delhi and hold peaceful protests.
"We have told the govt that you can kill us but please don't oppress the farmers. We request the Prime Minister to come forward and end this protest by announcing a law on the MSP guarantee for the farmers. The country will not forgive such a government. There are paramilitary forces deployed in the villages of Haryana. What crime have we committed? We have made you the Prime Minister. We never thought that the forces would oppress us this way. Please protect the Constitution and let us peacefully head towards Delhi. This is our right," he said in a video shared by ANI.

In view of the proposed march, the Delhi Police directed security personnel deployed at the city's Tikri, Singhu and Ghazipur border points to stay alert and conducted mock drills.
The Delhi Police has said that commuters might face traffic congestion on Wednesday. The two border points of Delhi and Haryana - Tikri and Singhu - are sealed with the heavy deployment of police personnel and multi-layered barricades of concrete and iron nails. Two lanes of the Ghazipur border have also been shut. If required, the Ghazipur border may also be shut on Wednesday, an official said, as quoted by PTI.
