Farmers’ Protest: After being stopped by the police from reaching Delhi on Monday, farmers set up a camp at Dalit Prerana Sthal on the Noida-Delhi Highway. According to representatives from the farmers' association, senior government officials assured them that discussions would take place with Uttar Pradesh's chief secretary. As a result, the farmers have decided to continue their sit-in until the government meets their demands.

“The Yogi Adityanath government has ignored farmers’ rights for over two decades, failing to revise circle rates and denying just compensation,” the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) told news agency PTI.

“If the Uttar Pradesh government does not protect the land rights of farmers, the Uttar Pradesh SKM will further intensify the struggle by ensuring wider unity of the project-affected farmers across the state,” it further said.

Delhi Farmers March: Here Are The Latest Updates

- Farmers from Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states have escalated their protests for the second consecutive day, demanding fair compensation for land acquired by the government and reforms in agricultural laws.

- Under the banner of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, a coalition of 12 farmer organisations, thousands of protesters have gathered near the Noida-Delhi border.

- The protest has disrupted traffic and led to intense confrontations with heavy police barricades, as farmers continue to challenge the authorities in their fight for reform.

- The SKM has announced plans for state-wide protests against the privatization of electricity on December 6. These protests, which began on November 25, have seen a significant rise in participation, with nearly 20,000 farmers joining by November 28.

- Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday said that rather than heading to the national capital on December 6, farmers should focus their protests in states governed by the Congress party. Additionally, he reaffirmed that the Haryana government is dedicated to ensuring guaranteed prices for farmers' produce.

Key Demands Of Protesting Farmers

- Farmers participating in the Delhi Chalo march are demanding a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP), farm loan waivers, pensions for farmers and agricultural labourers, no hike in electricity tariffs, the withdrawal of police cases, and justice for the victims of the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

- They are also calling for the reinstatement of the Land Acquisition Act of 2013 to protect farmers' land rights along with compensation for the families of farmers who died during the 2020-2021 protests.
