National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah recently dismissed Congress's claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “missing” after the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22. In a now deleted post, Congress put out an image on X without naming the Prime Minister. The post had 'Gayab' written on an image of a kurta pyjama and black footwear, with a caption 'Jimmedariyo ke samay-Gayab' (Missing during the time to take responsibility). BJP slammed Congress, accusing the party of aligning with Pakistan's narrative and weakening the integrity of the nation.
“Where is he missing? I know he is in Delhi,” Farooq Abdullah said.
“We have given our full support to the prime minister. After that, we should not be questioned. The prime minister should do whatever work is necessary,” former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister said, as quoted by news agency PTI.
Abdullah, while responding to Pakistan’s repeated assertions of being a nuclear power, reminded them of India’s capabilities.
"We also have nuclear power, and we had it even before them," he said.
“India has never attacked anyone first. It all started from there (Pakistan), and we responded. Even today, we will not use it (nuclear weapons) unless they do. But if they use it, we have it too. May God never let such a situation arise,” he added.
"There was the Mumbai attack, and it was proven they did it. The Pathankot attack, they did it, the Uri attack, they did it. They attacked in Kargil, and I was the chief minister at that time. They said they were not involved, but when we took strong action, they ran to the US President asking for help. If they want friendship, then such things cannot continue. It must stop. But if they want hostility, we are ready, and so are they,” he sad lashing out at Pakistan.
Identify, Track, And Punish: PM Modi
Tensions have risen between the two countries after the Pahalgam terror attack last week that killed 26 people. PM Modi had said that India will "identify, track, and punish" the terrorists and their "backers" attack and pursue the killers to the "ends of the earth", as India stepped up the diplomatic offensive against Pakistan.
