Chilling Details In Hooghly Rape Case

- 4-Year-Old Abducted In Tarakeshwar: The victim, reportedly from the Banjara community, was sleeping under a mosquito net on a cot with her grandmother near the railway shed in Tarakeshwar, where she was allegedly abducted. According to the police complaint filed by the victim’s family, the attacker cut through the mosquito net, split it open, and took the child away, India Today reported. The grandmother further stated that she didn’t realise when the child was taken and does not know who took her granddaughter.

- Found Injured In A Pool Of Blood: The four-year-old, reportedly missing from Friday, was found on Saturday afternoon near a drain beside Tarakeshwar railway station, lying in ‘a pool of blood’. She was rushed to the Tarakeshwar Gramin Hospital for treatment and later referred to Chandannagar Sub-Divisional Hospital, the PTI report added.

- Naked, Bleeding With Bite Mark On Cheeks: Parna Adak, secretary of the BJP’s Arambagh district, said that the child was found naked, bleeding, with bite marks on her cheek. “Despite hours of treatment, she is still bleeding from her genitals,” India Today quoted Adak as saying.

- Family Alleged Negligence by Hospital: The Tarakeshwar Gramin Hospital, where the child was taken, provided initial treatment and discharged her. The survivor’s family accused the hospital staff of ‘mishandling the case’, claiming the girl was bleeding from her private parts and that the authorities failed to promptly inform the police. They further alleged that when they later approached the police station, officials asked them to leave. The girl remains in critical condition.
