A new month begins on Monday and with it several nationwide changes will come into effect from December 1. These updates span essential services such as Aadhaar, fuel prices, pension rules and tax compliance. Many of these changes influence daily life and financial planning, making it important for citizens to stay informed.
Aadhaar Update Rules To Change From December 1
Starting December 1, new provisions for updating Aadhaar details will be introduced. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made it easier for residents to update personal information such as name, date of birth, address and mobile number through an online system. The revised process will verify details using existing government records, including PAN cards and passports. UIDAI has also rolled out a new Aadhaar app to support the updated system.

Fuel Prices Likely To Be Revised At The Start Of The Month
Fuel prices may also see revisions. Every month, oil marketing companies announce LPG cylinder prices on the first day and rates often fluctuate depending on global crude prices. Last month, domestic LPG rates saw a reduction of around Rs 6.50. Petrol and diesel prices might also change, as they are reviewed regularly and influenced by international trends and currency movement. Any revision will directly affect household budgets and transportation costs.
UPS-NPS Switch Deadline Ends On November 30
Government employees face an important deadline as well. The last date for choosing between the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) and the National Pension System (NPS) is November 30, after the deadline was previously extended from September 30. Employees who wish to make the switch must complete the process in time.
Tax Compliance Requirements Due By Month-End
Tax-related deadlines also fall on November 30. Several direct-tax compliance requirements, including the submission of TDS details deducted in October, are due on this date. These obligations come under Sections 194-IA, 194-IB, 194-M and 194-S. Taxpayers are advised to file the relevant documents promptly to avoid penalties.
Pensioners Must Submit Life Certificate Before Deadline
Pensioners must also note the deadline for submitting their annual life certificate. Retired government employees are required to provide this certificate by November 30 to ensure their pension continues without interruption. If the certificate is not submitted and no extension is granted, pension payments could be halted.
With several administrative changes lined up as December begins, citizens are encouraged to review the updated rules to avoid inconvenience and ensure timely compliance.
