Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday initiated a long-demanded debate on Operation Sindoor in the Parliament. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Singh not only assured the House that no third country mediated between India and Pakistan for cessation of hostilities, but he also sent a sharp-worded and string message to Pakistan.

During the discussion, he recalled an analogy used by revered Hindu saint and poet Goswami Tulsidas that love and enmity should be on the same level.

He said India's history has been known as an aggressor and has never usurped an inch of others' land, and India knows that war should be taken up against those who are on the same level as us.

He quoted Goswami Tulsidas and said, "Love and enmity should be on the same level. If a lion kills a frog, it does not give a very good message. Our armed forces are lions."

He said that the neighbouring country is not equal to India in any aspect. He added that Pakistan is dependent on other nations for its existence and so there is no parity between India and Pakistan.

But the opposition to Pakistan is simply because of its policy of terrorism. Resorting to strong words, Rajnath said that India knows the way to make peace and also the way to give a befitting reply to the wicked.

He said, "शठे शाठ्यं समाचरेत् (Deal with a knave in his own way). We have learnt from Lord Krishna that in the end, one needs to pick the Sudarshan Chakra to protect 'dharma'. We saw the 2006 Parliament attack, 2008 Mumbai attacks- and now we have said enough is enough, and picked the Sudarshan Chakra."

Rajnath on questions of mediation, fighter jets lost

Responding to the speculations of mediation between India and Pakistan for cessation of hostilities in the wake of Operation Sindoor, Rajnath said, "India paused its action because the pre-decided political and military objectives were achieved. Saying that this operation was paused under any pressure is baseless and absolutely wrong. In my political life, I have always tried not to speak lies ever".

He also called out the Opposition for its question on how many fighter jets India lost. Rajnath said that the "question does not adequately represent our national sentiments".

"Few members of the Opposition have been asking how many of our aircraft were shot down? I feel their question does not adequately represent our national sentiments. They have not asked us how many enemy aircraft our Armed Forces shot down. If they must ask a question, it should be whether India destroyed terrorist bases, and the answer to that is, yes... If you have a question to ask, it should be whether Operation Sindoor was a success. The answer is yes. Were terror heads destroyed? Yes. If you have a question to ask, ask this: Were any of our brave soldiers harmed in this operation? The answer is, no, none of our soldiers were harmed," Rajnath Singh said in his address to Lok Sabha.
