G20 Summit 2023: India is all set to host G20 Summit 2023 from September 8 to 10. With security being tightened, and DMRC launching Tourist Smart Cards, preparations for the mega event are in full swing. Several global leaders including US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, UK's Rishi Sunak, and Saudi Arabia King Salman bin Abdulaziz Saud will be attending the event. In the wake of this, the national capital will also witness some restrictions as a part of arrangements for the smooth flow of events.

From the closure of restaurants and theatres to the alcohol shops being shut in the city, here is a list of services that will not be available from September 8 to September 10.

Will Restaurants and Theatres Be Shut?

Surender Yadav, Special CP (Traffic), in a Facebook live session on Sunday informed that all theatres and restaurants in the controlled area of New Delhi will remain shut from September 8 to September 10.

Markets To Remain Closed During Mega Event

On September 9 and 10, the summit will be held at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan. As a result, all establishments in the New Delhi area will be closed for the next two days.

Notably, Dhaula Kuan, Khan Market, Janpath, and Bhikaji Cama Place have been declared as "sensitive areas" by the Delhi Police. Issuing a clarification on this, Surender Yadav, Special CP (Traffic), in an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Facebook said that no markets will remain closed.

Ban On Delivery Services In New Delhi

According to Delhi Police, cloud kitchens and other delivery services won't be allowed in the New Delhi area during the mega event. "I want to clarify that grocery, ATMs and medical stores (essential services), and other establishments will remain open, even in the regulated zone," the traffic official said.

Will 5-Star Hotels Be Opened?

According to Yadav, some heads of state will stay at the Maurya Sheraton Hotel in Saket, the Lodhi Hotel in the Southwest area, and the Hyatt on Ring Road.

"All these are out of the NDMC area and will function normally. Only on some occasions, when there will be movement of dignitaries, traffic will be regulated temporarily. Otherwise, all the malls and hotels in these areas will function normally," he added.

Aerocity will also remain open, except for 2-3 buildings where movement would be restricted, according to the police official.

Is Cycling/ Morning Walk Allowed?

The movements of cars, bicycles, and other vehicles are not allowed in the control zone. "So, I would request not to go out for morning walks during the summit duration," he added.
