A 10-year-old boy died after being attacked by a monkey in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district on Monday, police and forest officials said. The incident took place when the boy was playing with his friends near a temple in Salki village and a monkey attacked him ripping out his intestines.
The victim, identified as Dipak Thakor was taken to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. According to police and forest officials, this was the third monkey attack in the village in a week.
The forest department has rescued two langurs and set up cages to trap another one. There are four adult monkeys in the village that have been involved in attacks, officials said.
"There is a large troop of monkeys in the village, including four adults who have been involved in attacks in the past one week. Two of them have been rescued. Efforts are on to cage another," forest official Vishal Chaudhary said as reported by news agency PTI.

Earlier this year, a monkey that had a Rs 21,000 reward was captured by forest officials after two weeks of the monkey creating chaos in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh, where it had injured 20 people. The rescue team tracked down the monkey with a drone, shot it with tranquiliser darts and caged it.
