The 594-kilometer-long Ganga Expressway was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 18, 2021, in Shahjahanpur. Initially, the plan was to complete the expressway by the time of the Mahakumbh in 2025, but the construction was affected by floods and other natural disasters, leading to a slow pace of work. However, since last year, work has gained momentum, and at a war footing, construction has been progressing in Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Shahjahanpur, Badaun, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj, as well as Hardoi.

The construction of bridges in these districts is also in the final phase. The work in the Swazpur Tehsil's Ubaria village is being carried out by HD Infra Engineering Limited, while Patel Infra Engineering is handling the work beyond that. According to the company's representatives, the work was slower in Unnao due to the waterlogged land, but now work is proceeding rapidly in all districts.

In the districts of western Uttar Pradesh, more than 90% of the work is completed. In Hardoi, 82% of the work is finished, and the remaining tasks will be completed by the end of March to ensure the expressway is ready for vehicles by April.
