Ghaziabad Metro Update: The Ghaziabad Development Authority is all set to expand the Pink Line of Ghaziabad metro, as it proposes a corridor between Shiv Vihar and Mandola Vihar. A joint team from GDA, UP Awas Vikas Parishad, UPSEDA, Municipal Corporation, and Nagar Palika Loni will carry out a physical survey of the 12.50 km route from Shiv Vihar to Mandola Vihar.
The report from this survey will be used to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) through Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Once this route is ready, a large population living in Loni will get direct metro access to most parts of Delhi.
Metro expansion is already happening in Ghaziabad. After the Red and Blue Lines, the plan now is to extend the Pink Line to Loni. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the GDA Secretary with representatives from the Municipal Corporation and Awas Vikas Parishad.

During the meeting, officials discussed the technical, administrative, and public interest aspects of extending the Pink Line from Shiv Vihar to Mandola Vihar. Everyone agreed to move the project forward.
It was decided to form a joint committee with officers from GDA, Awas Vikas Parishad, UPSEDA, Municipal Corporation, and Nagar Palika Loni. This team will do the on-ground survey of the proposed route.
The team will check what possibilities exist for expanding the metro, how much government and private land will come in the way, and prepare a detailed report after physical verification of the land. Officials said this survey report will be sent to DMRC so they can start working on the DPR and take the project ahead, Live Hindustan reported.
Which Areas Will Benefit?
If the Pink Line is extended from Shiv Vihar to Mandola Vihar, people living in Indrapuri, Lal Bagh, Aryanagar, Prem Nagar, Lakshmi Garden, Giri Market, Upper Kot, Khanna Nagar, Rameshwar Park, Ashok Vihar, Pooja Colony, Pabi Sadakpur, Mandola Vihar, Mandola, Panchlok, Daulat Nagar Colony, Roop Nagar, Mustafabad, New Vikas Nagar, and many other colonies will get big benefits.
Travel will become much easier for them. They will be able to board the metro and reach different parts of Delhi, saving both time and money.
Loni Residents Can Travel Up to Majlis Park
Once the Pink Line reaches Mandola Vihar, people from Loni will be able to travel up to Majlis Park. The Pink Line already goes up to Majlis Park and connects with other lines too.
This will make it very easy for residents to reach any part of Delhi. Local people have been waiting for this new route for a long time.
Vivek Kumar Mishra, Secretary, GDA, said: “There is a plan to extend the metro from Shiv Vihar in Loni to Mandola Vihar. A joint team from all departments will carry out the physical survey. The project will move forward based on the report.”
