Porters at Ghaziabad Railway Station will now provide first aid to passengers in case of medical emergencies. The railway administration has decided to provide training to porters, so that people can receive timely help if their health deteriorates at the railway station premises. In cases of heart attacks, they will also be able to administer CPR.
This initiative will start on Monday at Ghaziabad railway station, as per Jagran.com.
Some passengers attempt to board or disembark from moving trains. Often, they fall and suffer serious injuries. In such situations, providing first aid becomes essential. Similarly, cases of heart attacks have increased. If CPR is administered in time during a heart attack, a patient's life can be saved.
Besides, there are several places in Ghaziabad where people reside near the railway tracks. Some individuals cross the tracks illegally, which increases the risk of accidents.
Porters work at trains and stations, so they come across such incidents frequently. Therefore, they can save passengers’ lives by providing first aid.
Doctors will train the porters in CPR and first aid. The Chief Public Relations Officer of the railway informed that the porters will be trained under the leadership of the regional officer of Ghaziabad railway station.
