Gurugram Traffic Police announced that the traffic police will impose a fine of Rs 10,000 against the offenders for not allowing ambulances and fire tenders to pass through on the roads. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Virender Vij said that the drivers who will not comply with the rules and do not give way to emergency services vehicles will get online challans.

The offenders will receive the online traffic challan starting this week with the video recording of the incident without any delay, the DCP said. He added that this step will help emergency services staff to reach their destinations on time.

"Challan amount for the offence is  Rs 10,000 under Section 194E of the Motor Vehicle Act. This will help in saving those on the way to different hospitals in ambulances in serious condition," DCP Virendra Vij said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

Gurugram Traffic Police is already providing green corridors for ambulances carrying donated organs which are meant for transplant to different hospitals, saving lives of critical patients, the DCP added.

The new traffic policy, which mandates providing clear path to emergency services vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks, would help save several other lives who need urgent medical assistance and support at the time of any untoward incident.
