Goa News: A tragic fire at a nightclub in Goa claimed at least 25 lives and left 50 others injured, leading to panic among the locals. The preliminary reports have revealed that three to four tourists also died in the incident, and most of the affected people worked for the nightclub. The officials stated that the flames have been controlled and the bodies of the deceased have been recovered. While defining the incident as a "tragic day for the state", Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured that a probe has been ordered, adding that those responsible for the incident will face strict action.
Several visuals of the incident have emerged on the social media platforms, showing the thick layer of flame engulfing the building. The visuals also showed ambulances and fire brigade vehicles arriving at the spot minutes after the incident. The officials stated that they got information about the incident at 12 am on Saturday, adding that the flames were controlled after a few hours. They also stated that the injured have been receiving treatment at the Goa Medical College.

Goa DGP Alok Kumar, while providing details, stated that the fire has been controlled and a detailed probe has been launched into the matter. "An unfortunate incident occurred in a restaurant-cum-club in Arpora. At 12.04 am, the police control room received information about a fire, and the police, fire brigade, and ambulances were rushed to the spot," DGP Kumar was quoted as saying by ANI.
"The fire is now under control, and all the bodies have been recovered. The total death count is 23...The police will investigate the cause of this incident, and we will take action based on the findings," he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief over the incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
